I'm sitting here today looking back over the last two days of our first Barn Sale event and it seems so surreal....Everything just seemed to click right into place somehow. I suppose that is what happens when you're finally on the right path in your life. It's taken me 51 years and much trial and error to reach this place and so today is especially sweet for me. I'm surrounded by people who share my passion and are willing to help direct my steps as I move forward in this journey towards creating a place where others can come and share their talents and passions with those in our community. I've met so many kindred souls and been shown love and support by the people I have chosen to include in my life. It's so important to surround yourself with positive, encouraging people and today, especially, I feel so grateful for all who came, gave, shopped, hugged and shared here with us on our sweet little farm. My cup runneth over...

I was born and raised right here in Iredell County, graduated from North Iredell and married my high school sweetheart. I've raised 3 wonderful kids and have a beautiful little granddaughter. After retiring a few years ago, I jumped fast and hard into my art! I tried several mediums - painting, sewing, even gardening. But nothing fueled my passion more intensely than paper. I've kept a journal since high school, using everything from plain notebooks to beautiful leather-bound books. I'm a big Pinterest and YouTube fan, so when I started seeing "junk" journals online and all the inventive ways folks were using junk mail, scrap papers, sheet music, maps, etc. to create unique works of art, I was inspired to start creating my own journals. I use the covers from discarded books, or sometimes the entire book itself, and add vintage papers, handmade pockets and tags, fabric scraps, lace.....whatever I have on hand and create a completely unique, one-of-a-kind journal. I'm always looking for books with interesting covers and stretching my imagination to see how I can turn that discard into something awesome! I've been creating journals for several years now and it's fun to see how my work has grown and changed. Each book seems to take on it's own personality, often becoming something completely different from what I intended it to be. Each new project just inspires me to create more! Follow Stone Bridge Lane on Facebook to see more of her beautiful work! We swoon for Sam's Spoons!!! Farmgirl Outfitters is "over the moon" for Sam Tallman's handcrafted spoons and excited to share his craftsmanship with you at our upcoming barn sale event on July 29th-30th. The natural color variations in the wood and their hand-carved shape left me weak in the knees! Don't miss Sam's booth when you get here! Here is Sam's story:
About the Artist After a life in the hectic and pressure filled manufacturing industry, I have found solace and peace in creating functional, heirloom pieces of art from something that would otherwise be cast aside as useless. Completely self-taught, I have spent many, many hours in my tiny 8'X12' studio with my faithful golden retriever Mack, discovering the secrets and the beauty of wood carving. All of my spoons are crafted by hand from found or donated wood. Friends have donated limbs or sections of logs from trees that were blown down in storms, or trimmed for the healthy growth of the tree. Some of the wood was found by following the crews that clear power line right of ways. The spoons are carved straight from the green wood using only an ax and knives. Once the spoon is created, it is left to dry for a week before a light sanding smoothes the edges without destroying the hand carved beauty and feel. An application of a special blend of mineral oil, walnut oil, and beeswax completes the transformation from an ignored and leftover limb or log to a functional piece of art. Thank you for your support, I hope you enjoy this art as much as I enjoy creating it! Terry and LJ are some sweeeeeet people (pun intended) and serve up some of the most delicious Wildflower and Sourwood honey! Make sure to stop by their booth and find out more about the incredible health benefits of eating raw, local honey! It's liquid gold for your body! In their own words, here is their story:
Terry Bell, Statesville native and resident, has been a Master Beekeeper since 2002. His love of honey and the beekeeping business all started out of love for his former wife. She had terrible allergies and did not want to be on medication, so with that said, Terry took the plunge, bought the book "Beekeeping for Dummies" and the rest is history! With lots of practice, sweat, trial and error Terry developed a true love of the bee business...not to mention the love of HONEY! He began with 2 hives and now has 40! Weather and pesticides play a role in the amount the bees produce. Bells Bees wants everyone to know what a real threat pesticides are to honeybees everywhere. Without the bees, humans cannot survive!! Support your local beekeepers and be a part of saving the bees! Farmgirl Outfitters is honored to present this amazingly talented artist, Kat Nolan of Foregone conclusions, as another vendor attending our upcoming Barn Sale event on July 29th and 30th! A little about me: I am 30 years old, grew up in Salisbury, and have always been crafty. I play about with pretty much any medium including wood, glass, metal, and ceramics, though my latest passion is refinishing furniture and creating high-end pieces. I also build my own furniture using reclaimed pieces that I bring back to life. When I'm not working on a project or working at my full time job as Quality Manager for a local manufacturing facility, I love to spend time outdoors especially near a body of water. What a joy it is to present to you Donna Gallina of Steampunk Funk as one of our vendors in our upcoming Barn Sale event scheduled for July 29th-30th from 8 am-5pm. I won't lie folks....I begged her to come so you could all enjoy her amazing work!! I have no shame! Make sure you get here so you don't miss out on all the creative imaginings of Steampunk Funk!! In her own words, I love how she describes her passion:
My name is Donna Gallina. My passion is Jesus, my family, homeschooling, art and xray (in that order lol). I have 2 grown sons by love and a 9 year old daughter, and 4 amazing grands! I was introduced to steampunk while on a mission trip to Romania with my husband 4yrs ago. I came home inspired to make my own steampunk funk. Each piece is one of a kind and waiting on it's perfect person. I have been a polymer clay artist for many years now and have been teaching my daughter the ropes of clay. She has her own line of fairy gardens, doors and houses. All things have the potential to be beautiful, if only we look for it. But now O Lord, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and You our Potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.- Isaiah 64:8 Farmgirl Outfitters is blessed beyond measure to shine the vendor spotlight on Samara McMillan of It's All Grace. My name is Sam; I’m a believer in Jesus, saved by grace, wife, soccer mom of 2 teenage boys and teacher. I’ve always loved inspiring words and finally found a way to share my passion with others. I make inspiring handmade decor and gifts with repurposed wood. My newest endeavor are my His truth hats! I wanted to share the meaning behind them As I read God’s word there are certain verses that really seem to speak to my heart, depending on what season of life I’m in. Let’s face it, we all go through battles throughout life, whether they are related to relationships, illnesses or strongholds, just to name a few. In order to overcome, we have to be brave, fearless warriors! In God’s word he tells... us, that is what we are. I pray that these hats are reminders of God’s truths and that they will empower us, no matter what season of life were in, to fight the good fight, with strength and dignity because we are His daughters. These hats make great end of year teacher gifts. They are available in "BRAVE," "FEARLESS," and "WARRIOR" versions and feature the related verse on the back. With postcard included these make a great gift for friends battling cancer, teachers, graduates, anyone who needs encouragement or even someone you admire.
